As an organiser or promoter of an event like a festival, or Pride, even a fete, you have a duty of care and legal obligation for the welfare of the attendees at your event.
Providing a first aid area for physical injuries is not really enough, as crowds and busy places can often be overwhelming for people struggling with their mental health.
As a responsible event promoter/ organiser it would be prudent and compassionate to consider the mental and emotional welfare of the attendees too, which will differentiate you from the competition.
That’s where we come in; we have launched the “VibeSpace Mental Health Workshop” which we’d be honoured for you to consider booking to form part of the wellbeing area at an event you’re planning.
Participants in the workshop are provided with a brave space and invited to explore creativity as a means of overcoming their mental health struggles. To aid them to do this we ask that they bring something to help them in this process, this could be by:
- Sharing a poem they have written which centres around mental health.
- “Show and tell” for some art they have created
- Sharing a music track that resonates with them – particularly one that has got them through a difficult time.
Once all participants are present, the format of the workshop is as follows:
- Naming circle
- Grounding Exercise
- Brief campaign talk
- Princess Vibes Shares a mental health poetry monologue
- Floor is open for participants to share
- Feedback after each participant
- Shake it off to positive vibes music
- Grounding exercise
- Close
In the interests of keeping the work shop small and intimate, so all participants have time to share, we cap each workshop to 10 participants and 1 host.
Once one is completed, we require a 30 minute break, before hosting another.
We can run the workshop back to back for the duration of your event, with an hour for lunch each day and only require a small marquee, or dome tent, enough to seat 11 people in a circle to facilitate this workshop at your event. If we have to supply our own space there will be an additional charge.
We also will then provide free ongoing support to participants in a private Facebook peer to peer support group which you can read about here.
